How it works

A companion for your day in Japan

You choose her yourself, message her for free before paying anything, and only book once you have both agreed the day and the plan. Everything below happens in English.

Rental girlfriend — how it works. Simple steps to book your date. Available across Japan.

What a rental girlfriend is

Someone to spend the day with. Lunch, sightseeing, shopping, a theme park, a shrine in kimono, or simply someone to talk to while you see Japan. She is company — nothing more, and we are clear about that.

✓ What this is

  • Company for a few hours or a whole day
  • Someone local who speaks English
  • Someone you choose yourself, and message first
  • A fixed price agreed before you meet

× What this is not

  • Not an adult service. There are no sexual services of any kind.
  • Not a dating site or a matching app
  • Not a way to find a real girlfriend
  • Not a way to get her private contact details

Every companion is interviewed

We meet every companion in person before she joins Rent-Kano. Her profile shows her areas, what kind of dates she enjoys, and which options she can offer.

TierWhat it means
PremiumChosen by our staff for their charm, personality and consistency. They also tend to reply the fastest.
RegularFriendly companions who will help you enjoy a relaxed time together.

Where we work

Rent-Kano operates across Japan — Tokyo, Kansai (Osaka · Kyoto · Kobe), Nagoya, Fukuoka, Sapporo, Kanazawa · Toyama, Sendai, Okayama · Kagawa, Shizuoka and Hiroshima. Each companion has her own home area and travels from there. Anywhere else in Japan is possible once you have talked it through with her.

Not sure who to pick? Tell us the day, the area, how many of you there are and what you would like to do, and we will suggest companions who fit. Ask the office.

Step by step

Five steps. You pay nothing until step 4.

1

Choose her

Browse the companions and pick anyone who looks right for your day. You are welcome to contact more than one.

2

Message her — free

Use the free intro email form. It goes straight to her, and it costs nothing. This is before any booking, so you are not committed to anything.

3

Agree the day

Settle the date, the time and roughly what you will do — with her, in her own words. Many companions are students or work, so a little back and forth is normal.

4

Book and pay

Fill in the booking form. Once she accepts, the office emails you an invoice with a payment link. PayPal, in full, before the day — you do not need a PayPal account.

5

Meet her

Agree a clear landmark, and tell each other what you will be wearing. Then enjoy the day.

Afterwards

If you enjoyed it, you can book her again the same way. Please do not post details of the date or write about her online.

Please pay before the day. If payment has not arrived, your companion cannot attend. Pay as soon as you can after booking, and within one week at the latest.
Message terms of use. Messages are for arranging your date only. Every message is checked by the office. We are not a dating site, so we cannot accept enquiries other than date bookings.

Date plans

You do not have to choose one of these — they are just the days people ask for most. Tell her what you would like and she will help you shape it.

Or just talking. A walk, a park, a long coffee — that is a perfectly normal booking too.
Coming with someone? About half of our overseas bookings are for two or more people — couples, friends travelling together, or families. An extra guest is ¥2,200. Two companions is simply two bookings. See rates.

On the day

A visitor and his companion waving hello to each other at the meeting point on a Japanese street.
When does the time start and stop?
From hello to goodbye. It starts the moment you meet at the agreed place, and ends when you part. Time spent travelling together during the date is included.
Finding each other
Agree a clear landmark in advance, and tell each other what you will be wearing — for example “white T-shirt, black bag”. She will do the same. She can also meet you in your hotel lobby, at a station or at the restaurant.
If you are late
A few minutes is fine. The time still starts at the scheduled time, and there is a 30-minute minimum charge. Please message ahead if you are delayed.
Extending on the day
Often possible if she is free. It works like this:
  1. Ask her and get her agreement.
  2. She contacts the office.
  3. The office works out the amount and tells her.
  4. She tells you, and you pay her in cash when the extension ends.
Extensions run in 30-minute steps. See extension rates.
Who pays for food and tickets?
You do — your own food, drinks, admission and transport on the day are not in the booking price. See exactly what is included.
How much English does she speak?
Every companion shown on the English site can hold a conversation in English, but the level differs from person to person. The surest way is to ask her yourself — the intro email is free and comes before any booking. Some companions also speak Chinese or Korean.
